LARRY CARROLL, co-anchor:
The public and their elected representatives have
differing views on Southern California's housing crisis. So
says Loyola Marymount's study on a problem. (sic)
Fernando Guerra, the director of the Center for the Study
of Los Angeles, says people want to pay less for homes,
even if that means higher density.
Mr. FERNANDO GUERRA (Center for the Study of Los Angeles):
Eighty percent of elected officials representing cities are
pursuing policies- housing policies that either maintain or
decrease density.
CARROLL: That, he says, will prolong the housing crisis.
The study shows a yearly housing shortfall in California of
46,500 units.
