Organizational Communication Position:
The Department of Communication Studies at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position at the level of assistant professor in organizational communication beginning in fall 2008. We are especially interested in candidates with specific areas of interest in teaching and scholarship in one or more of the following: diversity, critical/cultural perspectives of international/transnational organizations, public relations and advocacy for nonprofit/grassroots organizations, health communication, conflict negotiation/resolution and peace studies, and communication technologies. Teaching responsibilities will involve teaching a variety of courses, such as organizational communication, research methods, communication campaigns for nonprofits, consulting, and conflict and negotiation. Departmental faculty members also will have the opportunity to develop courses in their area(s) of expertise.
A successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Communication Studies at the time of appointment, demonstrate the potential for teaching excellence, and have an active research program. We are particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research support our University’s encouragement of learning, the education of the whole person, and the service of faith and the promotion of justice.
