A half-day conference on "Urban Democracy at the Crossroads - Los Angeles's Transformation" will be held at Loyola Marymount University on Thursday, April 15.

The rapid growth of first and second generation immigrant population combined with a decline in Puerto Rican, African American and white populations is changing the face of L.A. The conference will explore the profound implications of this demographic transformation.

Among the participants will be Karen Bass, Democratic nominee for the State Assembly, Assembly Speaker Emeritus Robert Hertzberg, Lieutenant Governor Cruz Bustamante, L.A. City Councilman Antonio Villaraigosa.
