Election Studies
LOS ANGELES HAS MORE THAN 1,800 voting precincts. While all citizens have an equal right to vote, do all citizens enjoy equal access to the ballot box? On Election Day, student researchers evaluate the quality and accessibility of polling places to determine if the quality and accessibility of voting precincts varies across socioeconomic and demographic settings. Specifically, are voting precincts in low-income and non-White neighborhoods less visible, less stable, harder to find, and harder to navigate than voting precincts in high-income and White neighborhoods? How does precinct quality and accessibility impact voter turnout?.
