The Poetics of Modern Landscape

Comparative study of the poetics of modern landscape as reflected in 19th century and 20th century French/European literature and the arts, from Flaubert to Rilke, and Monet to Cézanne. Lectures include visits to art museums and architectural sites. Assignments will be in English for ARHS 398, EURO 371, FNLT 180 and 398, and in French for FREN 498. Class discussion will be in English.

Body and Mind
Robin Wang, Ph.D.
Students will explore he concerns and contributions of French Thinkers with regards to the complex aspect of human experience. Investigation has two major parts: First, a conceptual and philosophical grounding. Second, becoming embodied mind. We’ll learn different meditations and body exercises. Students are required to do a field research for different infusion of mind and body practices in Paris.
