Spain: San Sebastian

Spain 1

San Sebastián , Spain

The capital of Guipuzcoa, San Sabastián is a city of contrasts; new and old at the same time because, culturally, its citizens belong to the most ancient people in Europe: the Basques. And they pride themselves on their own language: "euskara", a language spoken by approximately forty percent of the 180,000 "donostiarras" who live in the city today. The city appears quiet and peaceful to the visitor, with breathtaking landscapes where nature is at its best. Peaceful mountain spots can be found, completely isolated from all motor vehicles, just minutes from the city centre. The climate is mild twelve months a year, with an average summer temperature of around 22 degrees. The San Sebastián coast and its surrounding environment is a wonderful place for the visitor, where the Pyrenees sink into the sea and the landscape has a thousand facets. There are cliffs in Igeldo and Monpás ; three delightful urban beaches: La Concha, Ondarreta and La Zurriola ; small mountains surrounding San Sebastián provide both a natural green area for relaxing and a vantage point for contemplating the unique geography of the area.

Deusto University

The San Sebastian campus, located on the Paseo of Mundaiz, on the banks of the River Urumea and in the area surrounding the Cristina-Enea park, constitutes a 28,000 m 2 university complex, fully integrated with the city of Donostia-San Sebastian. The architectural complex includes an original chapel, two towers and several buildings, some recent, such as the Padre Arrupe Building. Also, with the recent construction of the Matteo Ricci Technology Building and the new Library, this campus has been endowed with new facilities and equipment to respond to the technological challenges of the new era. Course offerings are primarily in business and finance. Please note that courses are taught in Spanish and a few are in English, so proficiency is required.
