Ateneo University
One of the oldest Jesuit institution of higher learning in Asia, Ateneo traces its roots to 1859, when the city of Manila entrusted to the Jesuit Fathers the administration of the Escuela Municipal de Manila. As a University, the Ateneo de Manila seeks to preserve, extend, and communicate truth and apply it to human development and the preservation of the environment. One of the first graduates of Ateneo was the Philippines’ national hero, Jose Rizal. Courses are conducted in English and Tagalog.
