PROWL Navigation Tips
PROWL Navigation Tips
The browser’s "Back" button should not be used. Instead, users should select the "Return to Menu" icon in the upper righthand corner of the PROWL screen.
Always select the "Exit" button to ensure a complete disconnect from PROWL.
After 5 minutes of inactivity, the user will be asked for a User ID and PIN. The 9-digit User ID may be found in PROWL on the "Personal Information" menu or the user’s Social Security number may be substituted. The PIN is the user’s birth date (MMDDYY) until after the first PROWL session, when the user is required to change it to another 6 digit number.
Internet Explorer or Netscape are recommended browsers. PROWL allows each user only one concurrent login. Some internet providers (AOL, Compuserve) may perform an operation that PROWL interprets as a second login, thus causing an error.
The AOL built-in web browser will not access PROWL. After connecting to AOL, users may successfully log in by launching either a Netscape or Internet Explorer browser. PROWL uses 128-bit encryption.
A browser must have encryption enabled for PROWL.
Netscape users may experience a "Data Missing" error when printing from PROWL. If this occurs, change the disk cache setting by selecting "preferences" from the "edit" menu. Set the value of "disk cache" to zero and then clear the disk cache. Reload the page and printing should be enabled.
