Transfer Students

An articulation agreement is an agreement between Loyola Marymount University and a community college to transfer courses in order to meet certain baccalaureate degree requirements.  Each agreement provides information for how courses meet LMU Core requirements and lower division major requirements for all its undergraduate degrees.  A "Summary of Transferable Courses" page will indicate how courses from each community college transfer to LMU.

 General Transfer Credit Policies
1. Coursework must be done at an institution accredited by one of the six regional associations of the Accrediting Commission for Senior or Junior Colleges and Universities.
2. Courses with grades below a C (2.0) do not transfer.
3. A maximum of 60 semester hours from a community or junior college and 90 hours from a 4-year institution is transferable to the degree program of the University.
4. Foreign institutions must be recognized by the Ministry of Education of that country.
5. LMU credit will be given only after receipt of an official transcript.

Policies specific to the Bellarmine College of Liberal Arts
1. No more than 9 semester hours in any of the following programs will be accepted: Art, Dance (studio technique/performance), Music (applied, studio, or performance), Theatre Arts (technical or performance).
2. Those students with a double major or minor in one of the above departments are allowed to exceed the 9 semester hour limit in order to complete their programs.  Only those units that are applicable to the double major or minor will be accepted toward graduation requirements.
3. PE courses may not be transferred after admission to LMU.

Policies specific to the College of Business Administration
1. For students enrolled in the College of Business Administration, the only upper division courses which transfer to LMU are those completed at a 4-year, AACSB-accredited institution.

2. Students applying to the College of Business Administration must take the equivalent of MATH 112: Mathematical Analylsis for Business II.

Existing Histories
The Existing Histories database is provided for those schools for which there is no articulation agreement.  This is a database of courses from these schools that have been transferred to LMU in the past and how they have transferred.  Since they have not been "articulated," there is no guarantee that the courses will transfer in the same way.  To view the Existing Histories database, click here.
