Tours of Career Development Services
Schedule your class to visit the Career Development Services Office. Our staff will provide students with an overview of our resources and programs and how best to use them in the career planning process.
In-Class Presentations
Professional staff are available to provide content-rich lectures to complement and supplement academic course content. Topics may be tailored to your specific class or choose from one of the standard lectures such as Resume Writing, Job Search Strategies or Interviewing Skills.
Don’t Cancel that Class!
If you should anticipate a need to cancel class, contact Career Development Services. A staff member may be available to visit your class and deliver career-related lectures and workshops.
Supplemental Instructional Materials
Printed handouts and guides are available to supplement your in-class lectures. Both standard guides and specialized materials are available. PowerPoint presentations are also available should you wish to deliver the material in a lecture format.
Course Development Assistance
When developing your syllabus, consider incorporating career-related information into one or more of your classes. Our CDS staff can assist in identifying the most effective tools, delivery methods and resources to support your teaching objectives.
Internship Resource
When considering the importance of applying theory to practice, CDS can be a resource to you and your students. CDS maintains both web-based and LMU specific internship listings and can assist students in gaining hands-on experience in their chosen field.
Career Counseling
Students are assisted individually or in a group setting with decision-making and career strategies. This service includes individual assessments, occupational and job search information.
4-Year Career Plan Development
Encourage your students to develop a four-year career development plan that complements their academic plan. Students may design their own individualized strategy that includes informational interviews, externships (job shadowing), conversations with on-line mentors, formal mentoring, internships and career-related research. Student attendance at career fairs and events can also provide networking opportunities with experienced professionals.

Student Employment Services (SES) can assist you in advertising and locating candidates for your on-campus employment positions.
Workshops For Student Employees & Their Supervisors
In-service training for students and their supervisors support the development of work-place skills. Standard workshop topics include technology, customer service, and workplace practices. Training may be developed to meet individual department needs.
Community and Tutoring Network
The Community Network is designed to provide assistance to community members, allowing students to earn additional income through child care, tutoring, house cleaning, odd jobs, event staff and other temporary or short term employment opportunities.
