Why Study Abroad?

Studying Abroad is an educational and transformative experience.  Great reasons to study abroad include gaining a global perspective, improving communication skills, enhancing the value of your degree, and gaining valuable contacts.  We would love to assist you in selecting a program that is right for you.

Statistics

LMU has been offering study abroad programs for more than three decades and currently sends over 550 students abroad each year!

Faculty-Led Programs

All LMU programs are led by Loyola Marymount University faculty members, giving each program in-country support. These programs reflect LMU’s mission and provide high quality education.

Credit Transfer

For LMU Semester/Summer programs, students receive credit and grades for all classes. Programs are designed so students may still graduate on time.

Language

Students are not required to have prior knowledge of the host country language but may be required to take a course while abroad.

Safety
LMU works extensively to ensure the health and safety of all students while they are studying abroad. All students are required to have overseas health insurance for the duration of their time abroad.  LMU’s Study Abroad Office provides mandatory Health and Safety meetings before students leave.

The LMU Study Abroad Office is carefully monitoring developments on the Swine Flu outbreak. Students who are currently on Study Abroad Programs are advised to follow the recommendations of their local universities, providers and health authorities.
