San Lucas Tolimán, Guatemala
Our group will live and work with the San Lucas
Tolimán Mission, a Catholic parish that sponsors
many community outreach and development programs
on the southeastern shores of Lake Atitlán. Members
of this community are largely indigenous Mayans, and
this trip is an opportunity for LMU students to learn
about the Mayan culture in contemporary Guatemala.
The service component of the trip may include working
with the parish’s agricultural projects, reforestation
program, health clinic, or school. Group accommodations
are in a large guest house with common bedrooms.
Meals are taken in the parish hall.
