Important Notice:

Financial Aid requirements for 2008-2009 have been posted to your PROWL account.  These requirements are necessary to receive the same assistance in 2008-2009 as you had received in 2007-2008.  Review the information below and complete the requirements in accordance with the priority funding deadlines.  Check your PROWL account and LION e-mail often to keep current on your application status.

Step 1:  Submit the 2008-2009 Undergraduate Financial Aid Application by March 2, 2008.
• ALL students must complete this application to be considered for ANY aid.
• The 2008-2009 Undergraduate Financial Aid Application must be signed by both the student and parent.
• Mail, fax, or deliver the Undergraduate Financial Aid Application to the Financial Aid Office by March 2, 2008.

Step 2: Submit the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by
March 2, 2008.
The FAFSA application is required to be considered for federal, state, and LMU-funded financial aid,
including the Federal Parent (PLUS) Loan.
The FAFSA must be completed by March 2, 2008 for priority funding consideration. If your or your
parents’ tax returns will not be completed by March 2, 2008, you can estimate student and
parent tax income on the FAFSA in order to meet the priority funding deadline. There are two ways to
complete the FAFSA—online or using the paper form.

● Apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Applying online is safe and secure and will provide online edits
to assist you in completing your FAFSA. Both you and at least one parent must apply for a Personal
Identification Number (PIN) to sign the FAFSA electronically. LMU’s school code is #001234.

OR

● Although, the Department of Education encourages all students to apply electronically; you
can obtain a paper FAFSA by calling the Federal Student Aid Information Center (FSAIC) toll-free
at 800-4-FED-AID. If you complete a paper FAFSA, make sure your application is error-free, has the
student signature and the signature of at least one parent, and is postmarked by the March 2, 2008
priority funding deadline.

Step 3: Submit Student and Parent 2007 Federal Tax Returns.
If you are required to submit parent and student federal tax returns, we will post these requirements to your PROWL account.  All students selected for Verification by the federal processor are automatically required to submit 2007 federal student and parent tax returns to the Financial Aid Office.   You will be notified by the federal processor that you have been selected for Verification on your Student Aid Report (SAR), which will be available to view online at www.fafsa.ed.gov after you file the FAFSA.  If you or your parents are not required to file a 2007 federal tax return, you must submit the Nonfiling Statements.

Step 4:  If requested, submit 2008-2009 CSS PROFILE by March 2, 2008.
Complete only if it is posted to your PROWL account as a requirement.
Complete the CSS PROFILE online at  www.collegeboard.org/profile by March 2, 2008.  LMU’s school code is #4403.

Step 5: Provide additional documentation and/or information as requested.
Submit additional documents and/or information requested by the Financial Aid Office, within 10 business days of the date of the request. All requests for additional information will be made via your LMU LION e-mail/PROWL account.
