Cataloging Department
The Cataloging Department is located on the Von der Ahe Library's ground level in the Technical Services area, room 109. This technical processing unit provides bibliographic and physical processing for thousands of items -- books, media, online bibliographic databases -- which are added to the library's collections each year. Every new item receives a cataloging record in LINUS, the library's online catalog. The record describes the item, notes its subject content, and provides a call number for finding the item on the shelf.
When searching LINUS, if you find a record which indicates "1 copy being processed for library," the item has been received and is being cataloged. If you need that item immediately, please submit an Rush Processing Request Form. Allow two business days for processing. You will be notified by telephone when the item is ready. It will be kept at the Circulation Desk for five days, and then sent to the stacks.
Besides being available online, forms may also be picked up at the Reference Desk and returned to either the Reference Desk or Circulation Desk.
