Holds and Recalls

You may place a "hold" on any item that is checked out*. The item will be held for you upon its return. You may also "recall" any item that has been checked out for more than three weeks. The person who has the recalled book must return it within seven days.

Once your item becomes available, the library will notify you, and you will then have seven days to pick it up at the Circulation Desk.
You may choose to receive notification either by email or regular mail. Please contact the Circulation Desk to change your contact information or preferred contact method.

You can also check the status of a hold or recall by viewing Your Library Record.

To place a hold or to recall a book, please contact the Circulation Desk at 310/338-2788.

*The library does not accept holds for books that are readily available in the bookstacks. The library has a first-come-first-serve policy.
