Spring Scholarship Deadlines

Freshmen and sophomores in all majors are invited to investigate the following opportunities for next year's competition:

The Harry S. Truman Scholarship (www.truman.gov) awards juniors intending a career in public service with a scholarship they can use during their senior year and for their choice of post-baccalaureate programs. The minimun GPA is 3.75, but qualified candidates are also leaders either on campus or off with a demonstrated record of commitment to service.

The Barry M. Goldwater Scholarship (www.act.org/goldwater) funds sophomore and junior science majors who interested in careers in science or science education (sorry, no premeds unless you are interested in research rather than private practice!). Candidates must be in the upper fourth of their class or post a GPA of 3.0 or better.

The Morris K Udall Scholarship (www.udall.gov) is for sophomores or juniors from any major interested in careers dedicated to protecting the environment.

Each of these opportunities requires a campus endorsement. The deadline to submit your preliminary application is April 10.

Juniors and seniors intending to apply for presitgious national and international scholarships (Rhodes, Marshall, Mitchell, Fulbright, Davies-Jackson, and Gates Cambridge)  for Fall 2009 must submit a preliminary campus application by April 15 in order to secure an institutional endorsement.
