Laboratory Facilities

Electrical engineering students have access to many laboratory spaces, including:

    • Electrical Engineering Computer Laboratory

This computer laboratory provides computing and simulation tools to support all electrical engineering students.

    • Ham Radio Shack

The amateur radio room (ham shack) houses various transmitters, receivers, antennae and digital equipment for use in the FCC amateur radio service. Some equipment is owned by the University and some is on loan from former Prof Cliff d'Autremont. The equipment is intended to be used by students/faculty/staff for low level of technical studies and exploration of RF and digital network communications, and to build and demonstrate equipment and to communicate via radio with fellow hams on campus, in the local Los Angeles area, around the U.S.A. and around the world. The campus call sign is W6LMU. The LMU Amateur Radio Club is recognized by ASLMU.

    • Parson’s Integrated Circuit Fabrication Laboratory

This laboratory provides hands-on experience for non-clean room semi-conductor fabrication techniques. It includes a wet station and a test & measurement areas. This lab serves IC Fabrication course and Nanotechnology course.

    • Ralph M. Parsons Senior Design Laboratory

This laboratory provides fabrication and test, space and equipment, for senior capstone design courses. It serves ELEC 400 and ELEC 402 senior design sequence.

    • Renick Sun Microsystems Laboratory

This is a University-supported computing facility for simulation requiring the unix platform. Various courses use this facility.

    • Werts Electronics Laboratory

This laboratory houses measurement and simulation equipment. Junior and senior students perform experiments in the areas of circuits, analog and digital electronics, and microprocessors.
