SUMMER OUTREACH PROJECT
The Transitional Perspective
The summer project is the vehicle to make the transition between Modules 1 & 2, which provide foundational knowledge and skills, to Modules 3 & 4, which stress execution. The focus shifts from analysis and evaluation to application. Your team will engage in an actual consulting assignment with a small disadvantaged or non-profit business. The benefits are three-fold. First, you are given an opportunity to analyze an actual business situation and to form viable recommendations. Second, the client receives free, expert consulting advice and recommendations that otherwise would be unavailable to them. Third, the project supports the University’s mission by providing community outreach.
Year Two During the second year, the program develops and hones your strategic thinking and leadership skills. Through consulting assignments with actual businesses and skill application projects involving real companies, you will learn how to develop and execute strategic plans. Your learning is further enhanced through experiences gained during a trip to Washington D.C., where you see firsthand how business and government interact and an international trip that will add to your understanding of managing in today’s global business environment.
