Italy: Tuscany

Tuscany 3

Florence
The program will be based in this famous Tuscan city. Florentine historians and academics will outline the political, economic, and religious conditions of the Renaissance, guiding us through museums including the Uffizi, the Bargello, and the Academy. We will see paintings, sculptures, and architecture by Botticelli, DaVinci, Giotto, Masaccio, Brunelleschi and Michelangelo. Our art studio, located near the via degli artisti, is renown for the artists and artisans who live and work there.

The Tuscany Program
The program in Tuscany offers students the opportunity to study major works of Western art and architecture and to have a studio experience in either sculpture or photography. In addition to the academic portion of the program participants will have ample opportunity to experience both historic and contemporary Italian culture. The academic program includes five weeks in Florence, three days in Siena and three days in Pietrasanta. Students are expected to participate in all planned activities and excursions while in Tuscany. Students will earn six semester units recorded directly on an LMU transcript and available for transfer to other institutions.
