Visit LMU

Campus Tours
Tours led by LMU students depart from the Admission Office Monday through Friday at 10:00am and 1:00pm. On Saturdays during the academic year, tours are offered at 11:00am. The Tour Schedule is subject to change and tours may not always be available during holiday and examination periods, so please call or email Alice Johnson at (310) 338-7602 or ajohnson@lmu.edu to confirm availability and to make an appointment for the day you plan to visit or submit your request online.  You should plan to arrive about 20-25 minutes before the start of the tour on weekdays to allow time for parking and check-in. If you have been admitted to LMU please consider making your visit on Preview Day, Sunday, April 19th.  For more information, please contact (310) 338-7602.

Tours are approximately 90-120 minutes in length, including an information session conducted by an Admission Counselor. Tours begin at the Office of Admission in Xavier Hall and are offered to individual students and their families. If you would like to arrange a tour for a larger group, please review our information on Group Visits.

Appointments
Individual appointments with admission counselors are available throughout the year and can be very useful in learning about Loyola Marymount University. The University encourages prospective students to visit campus and, if possible, to meet with an Admission Counselor; however, visits are primarily informational in nature and are not required as part of the application process.

In addition to offering students a thorough understanding of the University, appointments also afford students the opportunity to receive advice on course selection, preparation of an application, and information regarding the application procedures.

If you have not had an appointment with one of our counselors, do not worry. Our appointments are not interviews. They are not required as part of your application, and they have no bearing on admission decisions. We offer these appointments to allow you to learn as much about LMU as possible. If you have questions about our programs or about applying for admission, please send them to our Office of Admission email box, admissions@lmu.edu, and one of these counselors will respond.

Transfer students,
please come prepared for you appointment. We can be most helpful in advising you if you bring copies of your college transcripts with you to your appointment. We strongly suggest that if you cannot acquire a copy of your transcript to bring to your appointment, that you delay your meeting until you have secured one. With this transcript to refer to, we can much more accurately advise you about admission, class standing and academic planning.  Please call us at (800) LMU-INFO or (310) 338-7602 to set up an appointment date and time.

Overnight Visits
Unfortunately, overnight accomodations are not available to students who will be visiting the University. Many prospective students make informal arrangements by contacting and staying with friends or relatives who attend Loyola Marymount University, and a number of students participate in the Day Visit program.

Day Visits
One of the best ways to become acquainted with Loyola Marymount University is to spend a day with us. The Day Visit Program matches accepted freshman applicants with current LMU students. You will be able to attend classes, take a campus tour, meet an admissions counselor, chat with faculty, and sample our food.

Day visits are available to accepted students in February, March, and early April. Because space is limited, we appreciate at least two week's notice. For more information or to schedule a day visit, please contact the Day Visit Coordinator at (310) 258-5411 or at dayvisit@lmu.edu . Day visits are available by appointment only.

Open House & Preview Day
Every year in early November LMU welcomes prospective students and their families to campus to meet with students and professors, and to take tours of the campus and residence halls. Make sure that you are on our mailing list so that we can send you information regarding the date and time of the event. Information will also be provided at www.lmu.edu/openhouse, as the event nears.

In mid-April, admitted students are invited back to campus one last time before deciding where to go to school in the upcoming year. Students again have the opportunity to meet with faculty, staff, and students, as well as sit in on presentations about each of the academic programs offered at LMU.
