Institutional Effectiveness

Welcome to the Office of Institutional Effectiveness

The notion of institutional effectiveness assumes that an institution is engaged in the constant pursuit of excellence and can demonstrate how well it achieves its stated goals. This office integrates the university’s assessment and institutional research functions to create a culture of evidence and continuous improvement.

Mission Statement:
To enhance the institutional effectiveness of Loyola Marymount University by facilitating the use of meaningful data in decision making and planning.

Vision Statement:
To have systematic processes in place to ensure that meaningful data are used by the faculty and administration to make effective decisions at all levels of University functioning (pedagogy, curriculum, programs, business processes, resources, etc)

Responsibilities/Functions:

  • Serves as WASC Liaison, and take lead in coordination campus efforts to meet WASC accreditation standards and prepare for reviews and campus visits.
  • Provide support for campus programs undergoing disciplinary/professional accreditation.
  • Design and implement institutional-level assessment and projects.
  • Enhance institutional capacity to engage in assessment by providing workshops and other training opportunities
  • Design and implement institutional wide research studies to answer key questions related to the University mission.
  • Serves as clearinghouse for assessment projects across campus to ensure coordination and integration of these projects and reduce duplication effort.
  • Take the lead in developing a campus-wide enterprise data warehouse solution.
  • Coordinate responses to external agencies requests for official campus data.
  • Provide standard reports of University statistics in support of decision-making and planning.
  • Coordinate development and maintenance of the data dictionary.
