The Academic Community of Excellence (ACE)
at Loyola Marymount University
The Academic Community of Excellence (ACE) supports the retention and graduate school matriculation of students of color at Loyola Marymount University.
ACE scholars receive:
Seminars and Workshops
- Exclusive invitations to educational seminars, workshops, and luncheons that provide invaluable information about graduate educational opportunities and career preparation, at minimum, and focused interaction with faculty and staff advisors;
Research Scholarships, Symposia and Conference Support
- The opportunity to apply for scholarships that enable students to spend their summers participating in research projects with faculty mentors in their academic disciplines and fields;
- The benefit of presenting a research project to the LMU community at ACE’s annual research symposium;
- The possibility of receiving funds to attend regional and national conferences to present their research, literary and other publications;
Professional Mentorship
- Assistance with forging professional relationships with experienced faculty, staff, and LMU alum that help scholars successfully transition into their graduate educational and professional careers;
Individualized Assistance
- Individualized support and guidance in exploring graduate and professional schools, and investigating and securing scholarships, internships and service experiences designed to supplement students’ academic achievements and build and strengthen their undergraduate portfolios;
Additional Resources
- Access to computers, books, CDs, and other resources that contain information on scholarships, internships, graduate and professional school rankings and admissions, test preparation, and other subjects;
- Regular announcements about scholarships, internships, research opportunities, graduate school test prep options, campus events, and service experiences.
