Health Insurance
The Purpose of Health Insurance
Why have health insurance while enrolled at LMU?
- The purpose of the student health insurance plan is to reduce the likelihood that unexpected medical bills would jeopardize the student's financial ability to continue his or her education.
- All LMU students enrolled in at least seven units have the cost of the premium for an accident policy included into their tuition.
- All students taking seven units or more must show proof of sickness insurance. If none is provided, the Controller's Office will include the cost of sickness insurance in the student's tuition.
- International students are automatically enrolled in both the injury and sickness insurance plans.
- Graduate students who are TAs at LMU and taking six units or more may purchase the Sickness Insurance.
- For more information on filing a claim, please view the Student Resources page.
- the policy can be viewed at the insurance company's website: www.studentresources.net. You can also obtain a copy of your insurance idenification card through this site.
