Monitoring Your Drinking
If you are interested in monitoring your alcohol intake, click on the
link below to fill out the calendar we’ve provided. Over the next 3 months,
every time you drink, write down on the calendar the number of standard
drinks you consumed(see standard drink link for definitions), the
period of time it took you to drink (e.g., 2 hours), who you drank with
(e.g., roommate, teammate, family, all male friends), and how you were
feeling while drinking (e.g., happy, sad, lonely, angry).
At the end of the 3 months, you will be able to reflect back on your personal
drinking patterns. Did you notice that you only drink on certain days,
say Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights? Did you notice that you are drinking
a lot of alcohol in a short period of time? Did you notice that you are
typically with a certain group of friends or that you seem to be feeling
lonely at that time? This information will provide you with a personal
understanding of your drinking habits to inform your future decisions.
