Stephanie Aguilar - Peer Mentor What I most remember about freshmen year:
My initiation into Belles. It was where I was reunited with old friends, met new friends, and was given the chance once again to promote service within myself and others.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:
Try to utilize your time wisely. Make sure you find a balance between your studies and social life.  Try studying either in the library or outside your room, because the dorms can become a real distraction… And make sure you USE your LIONS DOLLARS cause at the end of the year you’ll be buying food for everybody and anybody.

Hobbies/interests:
I love traveling, reading, being in the outdoors, talking on the phone, EATING, and shopping. I’m a very adventurous person always ready for a good time.

The best part about being a Business/Spanish major:
I have always found an interest in this area, and being able to study the topics that interest me the most only makes it WORTHWHILE.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor:
FOR YOU!!! I’m a Peer Mentor because of the great chance I get to meet new faces, be a friend to the freshman, help in difficult or stressful situations, show all of you how great your freshman year can be, and to show you a home at LMU.

What I wish someone would have told me freshman year:
I wish that I would have realized how many programs were available to help me out in my first year of college. There are so many resources and people I could have contacted in order to answer my simplest questions and concerns about settling into college.

Hobbies/ Interests:
During my free time I enjoy swimming, reading, and spending time with my friends and family. I like collecting Star Wars toys, reading science fiction novels and learning about WWII. I am a Chicano/a Studies major and also enjoy learning about my culture and heritage.

The best part of being a Chicano/a Studies major:

I believe that it is important to maintain your cultural heritage. What I learn in my classes are things that happen in my own back yard and within my family. It is enlightening to learn about what my older family have gone through in their lives as Latinos.

Why I'm a Peer Mentor:
I am a peer mentor because it will give me a chance to help and encourage those younger than I to succeed and to let them know that they are not alone in this new academic environment.
Lauro Cons - Peer Mentor

What I most remember about freshmen year:
Meeting a lot of really nice and friendly people. I also remember what it felt
ike to live on my own for the first time. It was a challenging experience.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:
To transfer any units that I had earned at a community college.
LMU accepts some courses taken at a community college and will give
you credit. This way, you save time and MONEY. Second, I highly
recommend all students to try and purchase heir books online, you
will save A LOT of money, trust me.

Hobbies/interests:
I really just enjoy have a good time with good people.   love to be around
my family and friends. I am really into watching comedy movies.

The best part about being a  BUSINESS major: There is an unlimited
number of career options that having a Business Degree can provide you
with. You could end up running your own business one day or becoming a
CEO of a major company. I have been told that you can never go wrong
with studying business, because Business makes the world go round.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor: Because  EIS helped me through my freshman
year with all of their events and programs. They really reached out and
cared, the staff was incredible and always friendly. I want to help incoming
freshmen to have as successful first year and to be exposed to all that EIS
and LMU has to offer.

What I most remember about freshmen year:
Becoming more responsible & living away from home; you’re literally growing up. It was definitely a big change for me.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:
How much of a benefit it is to have time management! I feel like I would’ve done things much differently first semester but it’s ok because you only learn from your mistakes!

Hobbies/interests:
Listening to music, dancing, working out at the gym, running, talking, scrapbooking, watching movies, sitting at beach, watching the sunset, reading, myspace.

The best part about being a psychology/spanish major:
If you get a degree in Psychology, it doesn’t mean that you have to become a psychologist, you can do so much more! I also love being a Spanish major because not only am I enriching my skills in the Spanish language but I’m also exploring and learning more about the Spanish culture.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor:
I absolutely loved the peer mentoring program as a freshman. I thought about how much I would want to give back and become a peer mentor myself =]

What I most remember about freshmen year:
The EIS Getaway.  It was a great way to make new friends.  I still keep in touch with most of them.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:

Don't order so much Domino's -- the freshmen 15 are no joke! I have yet to lose that weight!

Hobbies/interests:
Bowling, shopping, the beach, dining out with my friends, dancing, playing card games, facebook and myspace.

The best part about being a poli sci major:
It's shorter than most majors and you get to choose your cores unlike most majors that choose them for you.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor:
I'm your average college student and I know that there were times where I wish someone would've told me how to deal with some situations.  I was
successful in some areas and I'd like to share my success with incoming
freshmen BUT I also had some trouble and I'd like the freshmen to learn from my mistakes. I was a peer mentor last year and I enjoyed helping the freshmen and forming bonds with my mentess...IT'S PRICELESS!

EIS PEER MENTOR - SAVOI WRIGHT What I most remember about freshmen year:
The new experiences, which were achieved through trying new things
and meeting new people by attending as many events as possible that
were provided by LMU.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:
To make an effort to develop relationships with the faculty. After three
years, I learned that this is a very crucial step in academic excellence
and satisfaction.

Hobbies/interests:
I love to meet new people, try new things, dance, travel and eat.

The best part about being a Recording Arts Major:
The program is very small and I therefore am able to receive the direct
attention needed to develop a very hands on major. It also helps that
Recording Arts is in the School of Film and TV because I have the opportunity
to learn sound production not just for music but also for film and television.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor:
I believe that experience through trial and error is the most beneficial
characteristic that supports excellence in college and life. If students who are
older and have more experience share their knowledge with those who are
new, the underclassmen will have a greater awareness of what is expected,
what their reality is and really where they want to go in life.

What I most remember about freshmen year:  All the friends I made through my sorority, in my classes, and just walking around campus.

What I wish someone would have told me freshmen year:
To try and be more involved in the freshman activities and taking advantage of all the opportunites that I had even a small interest in.

Hobbies/interests:  Being a part of my sorority, running,
playing basketball, and dancing. I also like to help others through
volunteer work.

The best part about being a political science major:
I am surrounded by a group of peers that think critically about the world around us and challenge me to look at things in a different light. I have teachers that not only push me to work hard, but help me in every way possible.

Why I’m a Peer Mentor:
I feel I can aid the incoming freshman in having a fun and interesting first year of college.  I love to work with my peers and want to lead them onto the right path towards a successful life.
