Study Abroad Tuscany
The program in Tuscany offers students the opportunity to study major works of Western art and architecture and to have a studio experience in either the traditional process of making sculpture or in drawing. In addition to the academic portion of the program participants will have ample opportunity to experience both historic and contemporary Italian culture.
Students in the Art and Art History Department are privileged to study in Tuscany, Italy during a five-week summer program specializing in studio art and art history. The academic program is based in Florence, with excursions to Siena and other parts of Tuscany. Students will earn six semester units recorded directly on an LMU transcript and available for transfer to other institutions. Because the size of the program is small (not more than twenty students), students are able to participate in unique learning and cultural opportunities rarely found in other programs.
Some Student Comments: I think it was a well thought out, well balanced and organized trip. For me it was perfect, just the right amount of free time, studio time and group time. I was deeply impressed by everything.
The trip was very educational. It was also cool to work in the Maestro's studio!
The whole experience was amazing, meeting all the Italian artists, the food... I suppose what I liked the most was that I didn't feel like a tourist, I had a purpose for being there and felt like a part of the community. I Really liked Florence and the guided tours given by Gabriele and Lucia, and working with the Maestro, visiting the city.
You have no idea how glad I am to have been on this trip... che` magnifico.
