Katherine Harper

Katherine Harper received her Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles in the Art History of South Asia. Her field of expertise also includes Islamic and East Asian Art History. Dr. Harper has published widely on various subjects, including two books: The Iconography of the Saptamaktrikas; Seven Hindu Goddesses of Spiritual Transformation (Lewiston, New York: The Edwin Mellon Press, 1989) and The Roots of Tantra (Albany: State University of New York Press, 2002), a collection of essays on the sources and origins of Hindu Tantra that she co-edited with Robert L. Brown. The recipient of several prestigious awards, she travels widely to photograph monuments and conduct on-site research.
