ART OF THE WESTERN WORLD I (ART 200)
An introductory survey of the visual arts from Prehistoric through Medieval.

ART OF THE WESTERN WORLD II (ART 201)
A survey of painting, sculpture, and architecture from the Renaissance to the end of the 19th Century.

TWENTIETH CENTURY ART (ART 202)
Study of 20th century artists and movements in Europe and America, from Picasso to Post-Modernism. Includes contemporary artists working in Los Angeles.

GREEK ART (ART 303)
A survey of Greek Art from the Neolithic Age through the Hellenistic period.

ROMAN ART (ART 304)
A survey of Roman Art from the early days of the Republic through the decline of the Empire.

MEDIEVAL ART (ART 306)
A survey of the visual arts of the Medieval period in Europe.

AMERICAN ART (ART 314)
Art in the United States from the Colonial period to 1940. Prerequisite: ARHS 201, or 202 of 315, of consent of instructor.

NINETEENTH CENTURY EUROPEAN ART (ART 315)
Study of the life and work of European painters and sculptors of the 19th century, from neoclassicism and Romanticism, Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. Prerequisite: ARHS 201 or consent of instructor.

ART OF ISLAM (ART 320)
The art of the Middle East and Islamic India from the 8th through the 18th centuries.

ARTS OF ASIA: ZEN (ART 321)
A survey of Buddhist arts with particular focus on the Zen sect and its concomitant arts (architecture, gardens, painting, tea ceremony, ceramics, flower arranging and the martial arts).

HISTORY OF PHOTOGRAPHY (ART 340)
A survey of photography as art from its invention to the present day. Emphasis is on the 20th Century developments and contemporary trends.

RENAISSANCE ARTS: ITALIAN (ART 410)
The art of the proto-Renaissance through the 16th century Emphasis on painting and sculpture. Prerequisite: ARHS 200, 201, or consent of instructor.

BAROQUE AND ROCOCO ART (ART 413)
European art of the 17th and 18th centuries. Prerequisite: ARHS 201, 410 or consent of instructor.

IMPRESSIONISM AND POST-IMPRESSIONISM (ART 415)
Study of the life and work of artists such as Manet, Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Seuart, Gauguin, Toulouse-lautrec.

CONTEMPORARY ART (ART 419)
An exploration of new directions in American and European Art since 1945, including current art in Los Angles. Prerequisite: ARHS 202, or consent of instructor.

THE ARTS OF INDIA (ART 421)
Painting, sculpture and architecture of India: Buddhist, Hindu, and Jain.

THE ARTS OF CHINA (ART 425)
The painting and sculpture of China from the Neolithic Period through the Ch'ing Dynasty.

THE ARTS OF JAPAN (ART 428)
The painting, sculpture and architecture of Japan from prehistoric times through the 19th century.

MUSEUM/GALLERY INTERNSHIP I (ART 445)
A directed internship in museum of gallery education, curatorial work, registration, public relations or installation design. Individual placements are made on the basis of the student's academic background and professional goals. Majors only. Prerequisite: Senior Standing and consent of instructor, prior to registration.

MUSEUM/GALLERY INTERNSHIP II (ART 446)
Advanced professional experience in a museum of gallery. Major only. Prerequisite: ARHS 445, Senior Standing and consent of instructor, prior to registration. May be repeated for degree credit.

SENIOR SEMINAR IN ART HISTORY (ART 449)
Examination of art historical problems and ideas, emphasizing the methodological and scholarly processes of art history.
