Alumni gathered with family and friends to help make a difference at Dolores Mission School on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Over 40+ met to “lend a hand” with painting the school perimeter fence, playground benches, the stage in the cafeteria, a walkway & railing leading to a small on-site building and interior stair treads. Joining the event were the Belles, an LMU service organization, which used this project as a means for celebrating their 45th anniversary.
This is an annual service project the Alumni Association sponsors to give their alumni a way in which to “give back to the Los Angeles community”. These types of events have positively impacted Catholic schools and parishes in the inner city areas of Los Angeles. The Alumni Association is able to accomplish these projects with the help of local contractors who donate their employee’s time and materials needed to complete the “wish lists” submitted by the principals of each school. This year we thank Blackwell Construction, Carbone Painting, Inc. and Morley Builders for their assistance. Without help from our alumni and the donations from contractors, LMU would not be able to make the difference for these impacted schools.
