Katharine B. Free

Katharine B. Free is Professor of Theatre Arts. She teaches theatre history and dramatic literature as well as directs. Among the productions she has directed is her own translation of Aeschylus’ The Persians and her translation and adaptation of two of Euripides's plays, entitled Helen After Troy. Professor Free publishes in scholarly journals such as Theatre Research International and Theatre Journal and presents papers at national and international conferences. Professor Free has a campus radio program devoted to opera and has lectured frequently at the Los Angeles Opera. She has a B.A. from Marymount College, and an M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California at Los Angeles. She is a member of the American Society of Theatre Research (ASTR), the International Federation for Theatre Research (IFTR) and the American Educational Theatre Association (ATHE).
