New Head of Collection Development
Marcia Findley, head of the library’s Collection Development Department, retired in early January after 20 years with the library. Though we are sorry that her tenure is at an end, we are pleased that Glenn Johnson-Grau, a LMU reference librarian and coordinator of networked resources, has accepted the position. Glenn has been with the library for over 10 years.
In his new position, Glenn develops the book and journal collections of the library – both in print and online. He oversees the collecting that is done by librarian subject liaisons and will be working closely with faculty and academic departments to be sure the library is meeting the information needs of the campus community. For most of the 75 years of its existence, the library’s collections have focused on the undergraduate curriculum and undergraduate information needs. In the last 10 years we have made strides in adding materials more appropriate for faculty and graduate-level information research. Our goal is to become a comprehensive university research library. Thus, Glenn will pay special attention to collections for LMU’s graduate programs and faculty research interests.
Are you a graduate student ready to bind your master’s thesis?
Are you a new faculty member who finds the library deficient in your particular area of research?
Is your department planning a new academic program or degree offering?
Do you wonder why a particular journal subscription is in print, but not online?
Do you wish the library had more books in (blank)?
Then contact Glenn Johnson-Grau, x86063, gjohnson@lmu.edu.
This is a promotion for Glenn and we wish him well in his new role. Those of you who know Marcia will still see her on campus frequently, especially in the ceramics studio. We’re glad she’s still a part of the campus community.
