Loyola Marymount University is proud to be a recognized leader in the field of teacher education. Our innovative Teacher Preparation programs are designed to serve those who strive to be professional, responsible, and caring teachers who will succeed in a variety of culturally and linguistically diverse school settings. Our programs provide a firm groundwork in research-based best practices, and prepare our graduates to serve not only as effective teachers, but as leaders and advocates for equity and excellence in education.
Our candidates benefit from a strong support network, including comprehensive support for completing the academic and administrative requirements needed to obtain a California credential. All of our credential programs are
authorized by the state of California.
Our 33-unit Teacher Preparation programs lead to a combined MA in Education and California SB 2042 Preliminary Teaching Credential. Depending on the level you intend to teach, we offer specializations in Elementary (teaching grades K-5 in multiple subjects) or Secondary (teaching grades 6-12 in a single subject) education.
