Teacher Preparation Programs for Graduate Students

Loyola Marymount University is proud to be a recognized leader in the field of teacher education.  Our innovative Teacher Preparation programs are designed to serve those who strive to be professional, responsible, and caring teachers who will succeed in a variety of culturally and linguistically diverse school settings.  Our programs provide a firm groundwork in research-based best practices, and prepare our graduates to serve not only as effective teachers, but as leaders and advocates for equity and excellence in education.

Our candidates benefit from a strong support network, including comprehensive support for completing the academic and administrative requirements needed to obtain a California credential.  All of our credential programs are authorized by the state of California.

All of our Teacher Preparation Programs lead to a combined MA and California SB2042 Preliminary Teaching Credential.  Based on their professional goals, candidates can specialize in Elementary education (teaching grades K-5 in multiple subjects) or Secondary education (teaching grades 6-12 in a single subject).  Candidates who wish to specialize in Literacy education may opt to pursue that track, focusing on either the elementary or secondary credential.  Click a link below to learn more about a particular program.
