Western Association of Schools & Colleges
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is LMU’s accrediting agency. WASC places a strong emphasis on the collection and use of student learning outcome assessment information as part of the educational process, consistent with LMU’s commitment to on-going self-reflection in the pursuit of educational excellence as a learning institution.
To the left are links that provide additional information about WASC’s approach to assessment as part of the accreditation process. WASC’s Educational Effectiveness Framework is a rubric that addresses WASC criteria for excellence in a learning organization. The Substantive Change Manual describes the types of program changes and additions that require review by WASC’s Substantive Change Committee (Note: Deans and Department Chairs planning new programs or program changes should review this document to see if these changes meet substantive change criteria). The Special Visit Guide provides details about the WASC special visit process. For additional background information about WASC, click on the WASC Website link http://www.wascsenior.org/wasc/.
This information will be updated as we approach WASC’s special visit to our campus in Fall 2007. If you have additional questions about WASC, the accreditation process or the substantive change criteria,
