Underwings

“Taking Kids Under Our Wings”
The name Underwings comes from the idea that we are “taking kids under our wings" by caring for them and guiding them as they grow up to become young adults.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Underwings Club is to bridge the gap between two economically and socially diverse communities by creating an atmosphere of solidarity between students from Loyola Marymount University and members of the community at Dolores Mission by tutoring and mentoring children at the Underwings After School Program.

Underwings After-School Program
Underwings is an after school program at the Dolores Mission School in Boyle Heights that runs from 3-5 pm Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and from 2-4pm on Wednesday. Students from Loyola Marymount University and local high schools act as tutors/mentors for kids ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade.
