Fire Equipment

  • Sprinkler Systems are installed in most buildings on campus; and/ or smoke detectors are required.  Manually activated pull stations are located on all floors of all buildings.  Fire hoses are available in all buildings on campus.
  • Fire Extinguishers are located throughout the Residence Halls and Apartment buildings.  They are only to be used in the event of a fire.
  • Exit Signs are located strategically throughout the buildings.  Their purpose if to indicate exit routes, particularly in emergency situations.
  • Fire Alarms and pull stations are located in all buildings.  When the alarm is activated, the entire building must be evacuated. Strobe lights are located in each of our buildings for the hearing impaired.

All hallways, decks and walkways must be kept clear to allow for safe entrance and exit to all individual rooms and apartments per fire and life safety codes.

Any individual who is found tampering with the fire extinguishers, exit signs, or fire alarms will be subject to swift and decisive disciplinary action with eviction from University housing being the most viable sanction.
