Gifts for Your Spirit
From LMU Alumni Chaplain Peg Dolan, RSHM

As we approach the holiday season each year, my column is usually filled with invitations to share your gifts with others. This year, I am inviting you to gift yourself.

When was the last time you took a day to be quiet, reflect, and pray on what really matters? If it's been a while, Alumni Relations will offer you the opportunity to do just that. On Sunday, December 5, 2004, we will combine the Advent reflection with the CLC Ventanas, and on Sunday, February l3, 2005, we will hold the  Alumni Lenten Retreat. Both days begin with 10 am Mass in Sacred Heart Chapel, followed by brunch. The rest of the day consists of presentations, quiet prayer, and reflection. There will also be an opportunity for a weekend retreat on campus, May 20-22, 2005. For more information on all retreats, please go to www.lmu.edu/alumni.

Now for some good news for those of you who participated in Christian Life Community (CLC) as students. LMU is now setting up alumni CLC groups for alumni who would like to participate in small groups of 6-10 people who commit to joining together regularly in prayer, support, and service. CLC is based on Ignatian spirituality, which is well suited to a busy modern lifestyle. For more information on alumni CLC, contact John LeVecke, SJ, at 310.258.4664 or jlevecke@calprov.org.

I hope you will accept at least one of the above invitations to gift your spirit, so you may continue to "give glory to God as a human being more fully alive."
